Dr. Armando Joya Bariatric Surgeon, M.D., FACS graduated from the Universidad de Guadalajara, finished his surgery residence at Social Services SSA, as a Doctor, Surgeon and Internist.

His post-graduate training included Specialization in General Surgery from the National Medical Center IMSS in Torreon and Adjunct Professor ofLaparoscopic Surgery at the General Hospital of Zone 16, Torreon IMSS. Then he decided to undergo further training by completing a Specialization Training in Oncology Surgery, at the Jackson Memorial Center, Miami, Florida and Specialization Training in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital, Miami, Florida.

Dr. Armando Joya is a Board Certified General Surgeon and has a Recertification of General Surgery by the Mexican National Committee of Digestive Endoscopies at the Valentin Gómez Farias Hospital ISSSTE, Guadalajara Mexico. He maintains several affiliations and memberships including the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), Member of the Mexican National Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons, Member of the Mexican National Association of General Surgeons, Member of the Mexican National Association of Weight Loss Surgery and President of the Specialization College of General Surgery, Puerto Vallarta Jalisco Mexico.

His practice consists of General Surgery and Bariatric Surgery. He performs the full spectrum of traditional General Surgery procedures using the minimally invasive technique, i.e. hernia repair, gallbladder surgery, endoscopic revisions of failed gastric bypass, and endoscopic treatment of acid reflux to name a few. His Bariatric practice offers several Bariatric procedures including the Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, the Sleeve Gastrectomy and the Adjustable Gastric Band (Lap-Band and Realize band).
